Police brutality in NY City. When will it stop?

Nicole Paultre-Bell, wife of Sean Bell, who was struck down in a hail of Police bullets, being escorted through the thick crowd of demonstrators at a rally held on fifth avenue on December 16, 2006. New York City is often plagued by a rash of police shootings. Sean Bell was fatally gunned down by undercover police officers after he had just left a Queens night club with two other friends, Trent Benefield and Joseph Guzman-who were also shot multiple times, but survived the Horrific ordeal. As the march progressed along the strip of upscale stores, I couldn't help but notice how disorganized the rally was. Yes, as a collective unit, they [marchers] failed to hit home with their message that justice must be served, police brutality in New York City must stop and the economic clout that African-Americans have in this country should not be under estimated. Absent were the big names in the hip-hop industry, who in part and parcel could lend light to the whole affair. Jay-Z, Sean 'P Diddy' Combs, LL cool J and 50 cents. The latter, who hail from Queens, were mum on such an important issue that affects their community. The protesters didn't make a dent in financial sales on fifth avenue, but seemed to attract more curiousity than anything else. When will we be able to push back? When will the inherently rascist NYPD stop its attacks against the black and Latino communities? The NYPD has to change its policing tactics towards these communities. The preconceived notion that every black man is a criminal has to be stamped out immediately. Their system of stop and search is not only limited to Americans of African descent, but to all people of color for it was exhibited in the abuse of immigrants Abna Louimer, and the murder of Amadou Diallo, Patrick Dorismond and Ousmane Zongo.

2007 resolutions...now what??

Greetings blog world, we are now three days into 2007 and as we move forward many have made resolutions for what they would like to accomplish this year. From the magnanimous to the miniscule. Some ask for love, renewed friendships and a more prosperous year concerning their financial standings. I try to stay away from resolutions at the start of the year because I know that I can implement what I need to be done at any given time. However, the most important thing is sticking to it. We get so caught up in these futile traditions that after asking for them we either forget, burn out, or just eventually get caught up in something else. To often I hear friends and family say "Yeah, this year I really have to make some serious money," or " this year is the year to make it big." It has become more amusing than anything else to hear the barrage of New Year resolutions paraded on the air waves. The world we live in today is probably worst than it is in any time in its history [since man has existed] and monthly resolutions should now be the "in thing." Over 3000 U.S armed forces causalties. I say be resolute in reducing casualties by pulling the troops out of Iraq. Over 400,000 indigenious black Africans dead in Darfur, Sudan. I say protest, protest in front of Federal buildings and the U.S and Chinese embassy. Our leaders need to also be more resolute in solving sectarian violence in Iraq, quelling wars between Ethiopia and Somalia, Israel and palestine, Islam and the West, Buddhism and Sikh, and Judaism, Christianity and Islam. These are some of the fundamental resolutions that we should hold ourselves to for 2007. As the common man makes these grandiose resolutions as a symbol of hope every New Year, the afforementioned seems more pragmatic because it involves the most important condition, which is the Human condition. So, as we go about our day to day lives be resolute about Global warming and the wars that ravage the one thing that seems most important to us. Us.

AS THE WORLD TURNS

Caught in a Quagmire of a burning desire, as my passion burns like a raging fire. As the unexplained intergalactic psychosis surround the myth, that a brother like me is not fit or up to it. But I live day-to-day to endure the shit that Babylon provides me with. I am filled with stress that consumes the 72rpms of the chest, but Jah bless and reject the ones who want me to digress. There are no guts in this glory because our experiences are based upon the story, or who’s telling. So as the world turns I’m busy navigating like Magellan through their lies. Like blood for oil the serpents are thirsty making everything a commodity in this consumer driven society. While they export their culture, they observe like vultures as the so-called third world suffers. Now the Wolf is in the world bank to tighten his grip as he plans to slit the throats of the non-christian seekers and uplift the bible belt speakers creating mass confusion like the color codes after 9-11, and your wild goose chase for weapons of mass destruction. Wreaking havoc is their primal function. Your daddy tried once with no solution, that’s why intelligent minded people bonded together and he lost the election. So they finally got an erection, sticking the Dick in the Bush, turning Colin to Co-lin adding Condi to rice, man the government has enough to suffice, as they inflate the state. It needs no debate that Allan is spanning the green making the U.S dollar lean spending billions like fiends in ancient Babylon. Oh how the swollen souls is sold for black gold, the liquid slave once again a commodity as prices on the barrels increase the house of Saud is reaping a feast, when will this cease? When the dragon rises in the Far East? As the world turns their brainwash indoctrination of democracy is making those countries itchy with their intransigent nuclear policy world peace is more than a distant 20. We are a nation within a nation spending 785 billion annually we need to wake up and smell the coffee, “black” with no milk added. © 2005 JEFFREY PHIPPS
